Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Among many things that the Holy Spirit is here for, He is the seal of every believer in Christ Jesus. He is our comforter, instructor, strategists etc. But God gave the Holy Spirit as our down payment until purchase possession.

I Corinthians 6:20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Through the cross, we became value for purchase. Jesus Christ was the payment for our redemption, it is through the cross that we got our worth. However, God gave us the Holy Spirit as a seal of His ownership of the redeemed.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).

If anyone does not have the Holy Spirit, it simply mean you do not belong to God. The Holy Spirit is the proof that the price has been paid for your redemption and that you have been born of His Spirit. Being sealed is our assurance that He is coming back for us and that we are His forever.
