Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

The word diligence here is a major word, the bible could have say that you should just keep your heart. So let us understand the word diligence. I find a few words to this: steady, earnest, and energetic effort towards a purpose to be accomplished. So in order word, you must make every effort to keep your heart.

God want you to pay attention to state of your heart. The most common use Hebrew word for heart is levav, this includes our thoughts, our will, our discernment, our affections. This implies that God want us to be whole by guarding our heart.

If your heart is affected, it will affect also your judgement and your actions. So God want you to protect your heart again any form of contamination. Many people have become defiled through unforgiveness, bitterness, betrayal etc. You must build up your spiritual capacity to withstand satanic effort to tamper your heart.
