1 Peter 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

What does it mean to stumble? Among other meaning, like meeting someone by chance, this is another meaning I want you to see: it also means "to trip in walking or in moving in any way with the legs; to strike the foot so as to fall, or to endanger a fall; to stagger because of a false step".

Did you see that? To stagger because of a false step. That just hit it, Yes false step. What the enemy try to do is to create a false impression about the word that it's not working. It is called persecution against the word and it's purpose is to make you stumble. Though the same is meant for your deliverance. The truth is, it is the word and your faith on trial here.

Mark 4:17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 

What really make people to stumble is offences, there is nothing God has promised you that will not be manifested.  You need to stand strong in the Lord as said by Apostle Paul: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Be strong and stand again Satan's lies, deception etc.
