Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

The power of the Gospel can never be over emphasized, it is the most potent revelation of all ages. The Gospel has unusual power that changes and transform lives beyond expectations. The simplicity of the Gospel make people trivialized it most time, but it has power for changes. 

The Gospel deliver from the hold of sin and addictions, the beauty of it is that, it goes into the source of the problem and remove the cause. The psychologist only have access to the mind, but the Gospel goes beyond the mind into the spirit, soul and also alter the cause and effect. Through the gospel power, the sting of death is removed. 

The gospel has the power to remove the root cause of an addiction, it does not just break it's power. This is what the scripture says about the power of the gospel: Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.

However, the gospel is the only cure for the inability of man to be free. For sin shall not have dominion over you, because you are not under the law, but under the grace of God that comes through the gospel. The gospel bring the revelation of God's righteousness, and through it, we see that the body of sin has been destroyed. Halleluyah.
