Malachi 3:3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness.

There is need for purging for every child of God of everything and anything that defiles. Impurities affect our effectiveness as God's children. Our usefulness is directly connected to our concentration. That's why Apostle Paul wrote that we need to let go of every sin and weight that affect us in our kingdom race. 

Though you are sons and daughters of the Most High and nothing can change God's disposition towards you, sins will hinder you from enjoying the best of your inheritance in Christ Jesus. You must constantly check yourself and be sure that you are not lacking in your faith. 

The beautiful thing about God is, He gave us the Holy Spirit as the refiner and purifier. What the Old Testament could not achieve, God through the Spirit within us is doing the same. But you must trust in the Lord for your transformation. It is not by might nor by power, but through the Holy Spirit. Change is easy, when done by the Spirit within through the word of God. 

Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.
