Malachi 2:5 “My covenant was with him, one of life and peace, And I gave them to him that he might fear Me ; So he feared Me And was reverent before My name.

Jesus is our High Priest, through Him we have been given the covenant of life from death. Every child of God is blessed with life, not just eternal life, which is quality of life that cannot be affected by corruption, but also with longevity. You are supposed to enjoy life with peace, because of what Christ has done for us through the cross. 

This covenant of life is premise on what Christ has done, not what you do. This is very important to note, the reason is, if it is based on what you do, then the enemy will have an inroad into your life. Our works are not perfect, so it has to be on the perfect works of Christ Jesus. We are justified not by our works, but by faith in what Christ did alone. 

While this does not imply that we behave lawlessness, it does signifies that no matter what we do right, we cannot trust our own effort for our justification. This life, is the life of God in man, hence it is sustainable only by the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. You have the right to life and life eternal.
