Luke 8:18 Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.”

Hearing is so important that is affect our responses at all times to matters of life. You need to hear right if you will act right. In fact, balance has to do with hearing, this implies that the way we hear ultimately affect our faith life. So Jesus gave a warning: be careful how you hear. Look at the next statement, it shows that hearing determine our receiving and loosing. 

Your hearing is based on your perception. Mostly, we interpret things based on who we are and not what we heard. This is why it is important for you to view and judge words based on the word of God. This implies that you need to constantly study God's word so that your perception is influenced by God's word. 

Your hearing is based on your perception, it will ultimately affect your faith either positively or negatively. Remember what Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans: "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Think about this, faith comes by hearing through God's word. The moment God's word become the lense of your judgement or perception, faith comes. 

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
