2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

One of the signs of life is growth, anything alive grow. You are expected to grow always and in all seasons. However, you are to grow in grace and in knowledge. To grow in grace is to develop in your knowledge of what Christ has done for you through His sacrifice. 

The beauty of this is that, the more you grow in this, the more intimacy you will begin to enjoy with the Lord our Saviour. The bible says, the secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him. The word translated "fear" is not to dread someone but to "love in worship or reference". Look at The Passion Translation:

Psalms 25:14 14 There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets of his promises.

Jesus after some time called His disciples friends, because they have grown. Apostle Paul called Timothy his son in the gospel, but after a while, he also became a fellow: Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ... Did you see that, now it's Paul and Timothy, not a servant nor son. It's time to grow.
