Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Your heart is much more important than all the wealth you can see in the world. The soul of man is the seat of true wealth, the quality of your mind is what determine what you see and enjoy in the world. The measure of the soul's wealth is this: what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world and loses his soul, what will be the exchange value in the world? (emphasis mine)

I love the way the message translation of the Bible put it "Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that's where life starts". If you don't guard, manage and protect your mind, it will eventually affect the outcome of your life.

You must be careful with the kind of things you feed your mind with, you must protect the kind of information, conversation and company of people you keep. Majority of people don't pay attention to their heart.

How far, how wide you will reach in life as well as your greatness is largely dependent on the state of your heart, so protect it. One of the ways you protect your soul is by studying and meditating on God's word. You must practice what it says. If it says win a soul, then make it your priority, if it says help, then help, whatever He tells you in His word, do it.
