Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

The indicator that reveals where your mind is focused is seen in the things you pursue. The above scripture shows that those who live according to the Spirit or empowered by the same have also a different focus. The challenge of where you place your focus is that, it has outcome of either death or life of peace.

Obedience to divine instructions is a proof of faith, while disobedience is also a proof of unbelief. There is no end to the desire of the flesh, but you have been empowered to rule and put the flesh under control. Amazing conversation in Genesis between God and Cain, shows that we can actually rule over the flesh and subdue it's desires.

Genesis 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Apostle Paul admonished us on how to handle the desire of the flesh, he asked us to "mortify our members, which are upon the earth". What I have discovered  about our journey on earth is that at different junctions of our lives, we would have opportunities to either return to Egypt (our vomit) or focus on where we are headed (heaven).

Hebrews 11:15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.

Every time you fall or make mistakes in your journey of faith, it is because you are calling the things from your past to remembrance. Once you are calling those things to mind, you will always have the opportunity to return. So set your mind on the things which are above, you will see that your life will take a different turn.
